Artisan Dairy Courses

In recent years the production of artisan foods has been a growing sector of the  agri-food industry. To support small enterprises or those new to the area of milk processing, Loughry Campus in collaboration with Invest NI, FSA and Mid Ulster Council will be hosting an Artisan Dairy programme for those diversifying in to the manufacture of artisan dairy products.

The programme will focus on the manufacture of ice cream and cheese, with the participant having the opportunity to gain hands on experience of making these dairy products. As well as focusing on the manufacture, the programme will also cover aspects of business planning, financial considerations and legislative requirements. The programme will be delivered over three days and the participants should attend the Business start-up workshop along with one or both of the dairy product workshops as detailed below:

  • Introduction to Artisan Ice Cream - Wednesday 5th October
  • Introduction to Artisan Cheese – Wednesday 12th October
  • Business Start-up – Wednesday 19th October

The cost of the Artisan Ice Cream and Cheese workshops will be £50 each per person. The Business Start-up workshop will be free of charge for those attending one or both of the dairy product workshops detailed above.
